Whaaat, don’t tell me you’re hitting up Miami and not savoring the latin flavor??? C’mon now, that’s one of the great things of this city!

Miami is a huge melting pot, people from around the world. It’s also a huge melting pot of Latin America culture. You got Cuba, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Domican Republic, I mean the hispanic vibe is sizzling!

Hopefully I got you wanting to check out the latin music places down here. So you’re asking where do I go? What do I do?

I’ll break down a couple spots and in the future we’ll keep hitting up other places and reviewing those as well.

Macarena @ 1334 Washington Ave. On South Beach and want to get some of those latin grooves? Hit up Macarena. Every Friday they have D’Rumba which is an all out latin music jam starting at 10pm and ending at 12am. You can also get yourself some sangria and tapas (for free!)while you’re at it. Then at midnight, the music shifts euro-latin music with music by nayana nava. By the way, no cover charge. (305) 531-3440

Hoy Como Ayer @ 2212 SW 8th St. Let me tell you straight up, if you’re living in Miami or you’re visiting Miami and you haven’t hit Hoy Como Ayer on Thursdays when The Spam All Stars are throwing down, then you just haven’t experienced the Miami sound!!! These guys throw down HOT tracks… trumpets, massive percussion, guitar, trombone, and a dj (Le Spam) holding the beats down… It’s a mix of old-school Latin (salsa, son, merengue) mixed with new-school (hip-hop, funk).. which is what Miami is all about! (305-541-2631)

Jazid @ 1342 Washington Ave. This place is real cozy (meaning cramped) but it’s got a really nice atmosphere and sometimes has some great bands throwing down (Spam All Stars occasionally make an appearance, but Suenalo is there a lot, and they’re highly recommended – call to check music for that night, they also play jazz there). Definitely a cool place to check out when you want to just lay back, have a drink, and listen to some chill sounds. (305-673-9372)

So that’s our review for today – keep it locked for more reviews!
