The Best Latin Music Clubs in Miami
Alright guys, I’m back getting you acquainted with the latin side of Miami clubs. Whaaat, don’t tell me you’re hitting up Miami and not savoring the latin flavor??? C’mon now, that’s one of the great things of this city!
Miami is a huge melting pot, people from around the world. It’s also a huge melting pot of Latin America culture. You got Cuba, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Domican Republic, I mean the hispanic vibe is sizzling!
Hopefully I got you wanting to check out the latin music places down here. So you’re asking where do I go? What do I do?
I’ll break down a couple spots and in the future we’ll keep hitting up other places and reviewing those as well.
Macarena @ 1334 Washington Ave. On South Beach and want to get some of those latin grooves? Hit up Macarena. Every Friday they have D’Rumba which is an all out latin music jam starting at 10pm and ending at 12am. You can also get yourself some sangria and tapas (for free!)while you’re at it. Then at midnight, the music shifts euro-latin music with music by nayana nava. By the way, no cover charge. (305) 531-3440
Hoy Como Ayer @ 2212 SW 8th St. Let me tell you straight up, if you’re living in Miami or you’re visiting Miami and you haven’t hit Hoy Como Ayer on Thursdays when The Spam All Stars are throwing down, then you just haven’t experienced the Miami sound!!! These guys throw down HOT tracks… trumpets, massive percussion, guitar, trombone, and a dj (Le Spam) holding the beats down… It’s a mix of old-school Latin (salsa, son, merengue) mixed with new-school (hip-hop, funk).. which is what Miami is all about! (305-541-2631)
Jazid @ 1342 Washington Ave. This place is real cozy (meaning cramped) but it’s got a really nice atmosphere and sometimes has some great bands throwing down (Spam All Stars occasionally make an appearance, but Suenalo is there a lot, and they’re highly recommended - call to check music for that night, they also play jazz there). Definitely a cool place to check out when you want to just lay back, have a drink, and listen to some chill sounds. (305-673-9372)
So that’s our review for today - keep it locked for more reviews!

Antidote to a Crazy Miami Clubs Night: Cuban Sandwich
Didn’t know Anthony Bourdain, the host of No Reservations and Chef-at-Large of Brasserie Les Halles, knew this much about Miami clubs! Here’s his take on the Miami nightclub experience… and the perfect food to counter the after-effects:
“This week, Howie — who is perilously close to becoming Mr. Know-It-All — seems to have been caught transfixed in the headlights of an oncoming snack wagon, and for reasons known only to his phrenologist, decided that the beloved Miami classic, the Cuban sandwich, is not good enough. Worse, after much experience (he says) working in Miami nightclubs, he came to the shocking conclusion that what drunken hordes of clubgoers really want, immediately after spilling off the dance floor, is his creative riff on a classic. Crustier bread! “Better” raw ingredients! An “homage” sandwich, roughly manhandled onto a griddle between unevenly heated sheet pans. No, Howie. No.
What anybody who’s even been to a nightclub understands is that drunk people want hot, cheesy, greasy, and familiar food. They want it fast. And they don’t want to be challenged to think. They’re done thinking (at least until tomorrow, when they turn over in bed and see what they went home with). A cheap-ass deli ham, roast pork, cheese, and gherkin on the same bread everybody else uses — properly mashed down flat — and you would have had some happy customers. Post-nightclub customers are the dream of every late night diner and snack bar operator in that they are oblivious. Howie chose to rudely wake them up.
If this crowd was going to notice anything in the interlude between the ear shattering, molar-shaking thump of the dance floor and whatever ill-considered coupling or porcelain bowl worshiping lay in their near future, it’s that there was something… wrong… and… different… about this thing they were being told was a Cuban sandwich.”
As a Miami resident I gotta say Cuban sandwiches are great! My suggestion is to hit up classic cuban restuarants in the Calle Ocho area (SW 8th St from 10th-30th Ave). Ayesteran is a personal favorite (love their pollo milanesa - lightly breaded chicken with cheese and tomato sauce - amazing) along with Versailles (which is a classic place - you gotta go). Also, if you go to Ayesteran, if you sit on the counter, you can actually see them make your sandwich, which definitely adds something to the experience. Hey, if you’re hitting the Miami clubs, definitely hit up the Cuban food spots afterward!
There’s one catch though - if you’re going to get REAL Cuban food, it’s going to be VERY hard unless you know Spanish. Miami is a melting pot of cultures… with the Latin culture being very prevalent. Isn’t it frustrating to want to order something or ask a question and you have no clue how to say it? With so many diverse clients in business, you really can’t afford to not learn Spanish. I found a great resource at Learning Spanish Like Crazy that’s very unique. The reason I say that is that all their speakers are college-educated natives of Latin America. Learning Spanish from a native is really the best way to learn because you get to learn the true nuances of the language right from the beginning. Hey, maybe after you’ve been Learning Spanish Like Crazy you can order me a Pollo a la Milanesa - which is my personal favorite for the post Miami clubs night.

Miami Clubs are THE Comparison Point for Excellence
It’s really amazing to think about the reach of Miami clubs. People around the world compare clubs in their city to Miami nightclubs. A few examples:
mar:
“We walk in and the place is really nice. It’s supposed to be modeled after European and Miami clubs, with the ambience lighting, leather couches and long metal bars.”
Trew aka Danny Ocean:
“Its sad because i paid 100 dollars a night to get into Miami clubs ..but still felt like i got my moneys worth … how dare i get charged 15 dollars for a beer and a 8.5 oz cup of liquor in Richmond VA with no air”
salinnyc:
“Loving that I am getting on a plane tomorrow for Miami!!!! I’m so excited!!! South Beach, sunshine, Miami clubs and Cuban food. It is going to be brilliant. I’ve wanted to visit Miami ever since I was a little girl, or at least since the first season of S Club 7.”
Those are some great testimonials to the Miami nightlife! I went to a great flair bar recently down here and I had a great time… in case you don’t know what a flair bar is, it’s when a bartender juggles, flips, puts drinks on fire or does magic tricks - it can be real fun to look at this closeup!
So after checking out this club, I was thinking to myself, “I want to do that!” So I searched on the net and I found this great site called The Bar Tricks Toolkit. You pay a pretty small price and it hooks you up with the way some of these flair bartenders do these tricks! Imagine going to a party and impressing everyone with the new slick techniques you’ve learned from The Bar Tricks Toolkit!
So, anyway, as a Miami resident, I’ll attest to the fact of how incredible Miami clubs are down here… Top-notch!
